It is important to understand that if Ambassador Stevens was left for dead at the consulate, the former SEALs Sean Smith, Glen Dougherty and Tyrone Woods went to a CIA compound located 1.2 miles from the U.S. consulate.
…there was a CIA post in Benghazi, located 1.2 miles from the U.S. consulate [MAP], used as “a base for, among other things, collecting information on the proliferation of weaponry looted from Libyan government arsenals, including surface-to-air missiles”. http://www.businessinsider.com/us-syria-heavy-weapons-jihadists-2012-10
This CIA “annexe” is in fact one of the largest CIA operations centers in the Middle East. It served as the logistics headquarters for arms and weapons being shipped out of post-Gaddafi Libya.
From there, the former career SEALs called for military support and help because they were taking HEAVY fire from the islamists. The request was denied.
How can we explain the decision not to provide those SEALs under attack with any air support? Was there any air support?
Yes, there was. We know this because one of the ex-SEALs had “a LASER on the target that was firing” at them.
The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Spectre gunship
THERE WAS some form of aerial fire support (a gunship or an armed drone) ON STATION in Benghazi because one of the former SEALs was actively “painting” a target with an Infrared Laser.
“I don’t know much about weapons but it’s coming out right now that they actually had laser focused on the mortars that were being sent to kill my son. And they refused to pull the trigger. They refused to send in those C130s.”
— Charles Woods, the father of ex-SEAL Tyrone Wood
There’s no reason to light up a target if there is no system at hand to take it out, especially since lighting up that laser gives away your position the same way using tracer ammunition does at night. The Infrared Lasers used to paint a target is as visible as a bright visible green or a red laser. You turn it on to help the fire support make the shot, or you don’t turn it on, since you are painting a bright green line right back to your position. There is no way that a former career SEAL could be flashing around an Infrared Laser just to store up grid locations or something for future reference. The islamic terrorists were firing mortars and AK-47s, so it was a “right now” problem. A SEAL would not risk putting on a light aimed straight back at his position unless it was to drop Hellfire missiles on the attackers RIGHT NOW. Not a second longer than needed. The SEAL was obviously begging the guys with trigger authority to go hot. So if the SEAL was “painting” a target, THERE WAS an AC-130U spectre gunship or a Predator drone.
We have to know also that a ground laser designator is not a laser briefing pointer. That means that the SEAL could not “paint” a target until the weapons system/designator was synched, and that implies that a gunship or a Predator drone was on station.
CBS News has been told that, hours after the attack began, an unmanned Predator drone was sent over the U.S. mission in Benghazi, and that the drone and other reconnaissance aircraft apparently observed the final hours of the protracted battle.
And if it was a drone rather than a gunship, it was an ARMED drone, since the USA don’t fly Predator drone around post-Gaddafi Libya with bare missile racks. Not when al-Qaeda is the top dog over there. After all, Obama is supposed to be the biggest “targeted killer” in US presidential history… If no AC-130U spectre gunship ever left the Sigonella Air Base, as Secretary of Defense Penetta says, that means that the drone that was filming the whole thing was armed.
But the armed drone or the gunship that was flying above the CIA compound did not attack the terrorists.
Also, we know now that Obama and Panetta were watching the attack on the CIA “annex” LIVE via the camera of the aerial platform. The battle was indeed sent streaming directly to the Situation Room in the White House’s basement, real-time video of the attack.
Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer said tonight that his sources tell him that Obama was one of the people in the room watching the Benghazi attack go down…
Some form of aerial fire support was available and was intentionally not used.
The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours—enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.
Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later on the annex itself was denied
No order to proceed came from the President, as of midnight in DC. And then none would come. Why?
